Freshman Orientation.

I started with my dad, watched a video on how life is living on campus, which looked fun! Then, the welcome rally!!! That was totally the best part! All our connectors danced and did skits.

Blah, blah, blah BOOM! We were split into our color groups and that’s when it all started…

Color groups were like families. Cousins you met and felt like you’d known forever. We did ice breakers and went over all sorts of tips and tricks for surviving NSU. TONS and TONS of seminars and guest speakers flew by and we moved on. We learned about Title IX and campus living and got a very moving performance by the connectors about what it meant to be a demon.

Before we knew it, Follies rolled around. We all went back to the dorms to chane before heading outside. It was HOT and those sprinklers and slip-n’-slides looked refreshingly cool. But we had to wait. We saw puppies, took pictures for the media team, and did our group chants (GREEN ON TOP, WE DON’T STOP)

Follies were fun, we passed buckets of water full of holes, did a slip-n’-slide relay, and tug of war! Tug of war was the best for sure. We took off our shoes at one point and bared down. Finally, dinner (THANK GOODNESS) We were all starving and poor Vic’s in the union building never stood a chance! We stormed that poor place and robbed it blind.

The night ended with Yoga or Esports depending on your choice. I personally chose yoga. They host yoga regularly on campus at NSU and Oh. My. Gosh. It was so relaxing and refreshing! I went back to the dorms, showered with the boiling water straight from hell itself, and slept like a BABY!

DAY 2 – CHECKOUT

Now comes the fun part, checkout on the final day. I woke up at 4:30 AM and couldn’t sleep. I changed, packed, and relaxed until 6AM. At 6, I walked my way down to the clubhouse to turn in my jey before I realized it didn’t open until 7AM!!! I Sat outside like an IDIOT for an hour!! Crying right now because oh wow that was EMBARRASSING!

But I guess It worked out in my favor. I ended up going in and hanging out on the couch all comfy until it was time to check my bags. I was one of the first people to stuff all my bags in room 3104 and sticky note every. single. thing. I owned.

After breakfast, breakout sessions started. A choose-your-own-journey deal where you got to meet and interact with each club. Me personally? I went to view band, then UPC (University Planning Committee) where I did icebreakers and met someone I used to go to highschool with (apparently).

We found out the winners of the Follies, Groovy Gold! Congrats!!

Purple palooza and lunch flew by. I took a ton of pictures, had a pizza, and chatted up with friends! It was so easy to meet new people during PPZA! Italian Ice took over the refreshments market, Greek Life spilled out over the entire lawn of the Magale Recital Hall.

We moved on to our final destinations, our major locations. Mine was fine and graphic arts, yay! I hung with my friends as we all chose our classes for the starting semester!! My 8AM is art so not too bad. I have a BUNCH of classes though because of TOPS. 15 hours at least was required so I got a good 16.

We all grabbed our IDs at Magale Recital, our last stop before grabbing our bags and heading home.

All-in-all, an amazing two days. While almost too short, I’m so thankful to have  made so many friends and found my calling.

My Individuality is going to THRIVE!

As Always, Forke ‘Em, Demons!
