And here we are,

Another step taken. Another goal checked off the list. One year after the other, I’ve been dreaming, working towards, preparing for what happened yesterday. High school graduation.

It flew by but trudged by all at once. I stood lobger than I ever have in my life, though, I swear!

I started too early, again. I got to the river center at like 11:20! They wouldn’t let me in, so I had time to kill. I visited the Louisiana Art and Science Museum. They had a real Triceratops skull! It was HUGE and weighed like 1500 pounds or more! I also heard they had a real mummy in the exhibit that had been there for almost 50 years, but it was in a dark and scary looking cave with no flash allowed so I didn’t go in.

After it hit 12, I walked in and wouldn’t ya know it, I forgot my laptop! (My school is online and we had to turn in our laptops to get the diplomas) So I hit a bump there but I figured it out!

I tore up the celery at the senior food bar and snuck in a Hershey’s as a snack. I had a little plastic bag from the dentist that i emptied out in my car and put my wallet, keys, phone, and a lint roller in.

Speaking of my car, I had to park it like a five minute walk from the ENTRANCE of the place. Yeah, in Louisiana humidity and heat, it’s not a fun walk. ESPECIALLY in a cap and gown.

Anyways, We did the rehersal, stood in lines, more lines, more lines, and then finally, finally, I walked in.

The walls were really tall, covered in black fabric to block out the fact that the walls were really just the bleachers folded up. I was nervous but I totally kept my chill. I heard my name and looked up to see my mom, brother, cousins, aunt, and uncle all yelling my name and waving excitedly. It was so sweet! (My aunt watched virtually)

I showed off my totally sick grad cap to the camera, then took my seat. We stood for awards, blah blah blah, then they did our names. Alphabetically. row by row. It took FOREVER just for my name to get called and I was number 144!

Finally, when it was called, all I could hear was my mom screaming and my cousin yelling for me to turn and take a picture. I did after I got my diploma and walked down the aisle to my seat. I smiled for pictures before I sat down and waited another forever for all the others’ names to be called.

Afterwards, I had a party with my friend, Dylan, but I left early because I was so overwhelmed. I also made a new friend!

I ate dinner with the fam, got a grad present from my aunt, and drove back home with my cousin.

I slept like a baby through the night, too, so not a totally horrible night, just an exhausting one, lol!

I also met my cousins’ new cat, Lularoe! She’s so cute and has fallen asleep on my shoulder twice!

I guess one piece of advice I’d give is DONT let highschool wear you out. It’s long, it’s difficult, but it is NOT the end of your journey. Get out and explore what the world has to offer. use High School as a tool for that. for now.

From a (now) certified High School graduate,

until next time!
